Opportunity to Contribute to a New Oceania Counselling and Psychotherapy Textbook Series

Palgrave Macmillan is developing a new academic series, Palgrave Studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Oceania, and is inviting expressions of interest from practitioners, researchers and academics across the region.

The series will span eleven titles across the breadth of the profession, including the person and practice of the counsellor, contemporary theories and therapies, ethics, cultural responsiveness, grief and trauma, mental health, systems approaches, research methods, lifespan development, placement, and clinical supervision. Each title carries an explicit Oceania focus, drawing on First Nations, Māori and Pasifika knowledge and healing frameworks.

Contributions are welcome in several capacities: editing a full title, authoring or co-authoring a book, contributing an individual chapter, or offering lived experience. The series editor, Dr Susan Sisko (University of Canberra), particularly encourages First Nations, Māori, Pasifika and Indigenous scholars, alongside experienced clinicians, researchers and people with lived experience.

To submit an EOI you will need two things:

  1. A cover letter naming the title or titles you are interested in, your preferred role, and a concise summary of your clinical or research expertise in that area (200 words maximum).
  2. An up-to-date academic CV, including publication history and institutional affiliations.

Key dates: EOIs close 1 August 2026, with outcomes notified by 1 September 2026.
