Trauma & bereavement counsellor

The Homicide Victims’ Support Group (Aust) Inc. is a non-government organisation and registered charity that provides counselling, support and advocacy to families affected by homicide in NSW.

Description of job:

We have a position available in our small friendly team that offers mentorship, variety, and job satisfaction. HVSG is looking for someone with life experience and an interest in working compassionately with families affected by homicide. We have moved our offices to our recently opened facility - "Grace's Place" - a brand new multi-million dollar initiative to provide support and counselling for children and families affected by homicide.

Experience required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling

  • Due to the challenging nature of our work, it is essential that you will have had some life experience.

  • At least 2 years experience in counselling – some experience in grief counselling is desirable.

  • Experience in working with children is desirable – with a current working with children check

  • Previous experience in telephone counselling e.g. Lifeline would be an advantage.

  • Previous experience of the criminal justice system would be an advantage.

  • Current NSW Driving licence essential.
