ARHG Health Funds Rebates

Who are ARHG?

The Australian Regional Health Group (ARHG) represent a number of smaller, regional health funds. The funds currently offering rebates for counselling and psychotherapy are St Luke's Health, Police Health, GMHBA, Westfund, Emergency Services Health, Phoenix Health, see-u by HBF(previously CUA), AIA Health and Teachers Union Health. The rebates available will depend on the individual health funds.

Who is eligible to become an ARHG Funds provider?

To be eligible to provide services under ARHG, you need to: 

  • Maintain your PACFA Clinical membership;
  • Hold a qualification specifically in counselling or psychotherapy that is accredited at AQF level 7 to 9; or
  • Hold an equivalent training for members with advanced professional standing (members who trained more than 15 years ago, and have at least 10 years experience).

Both Counsellors and psychotherapists are eligible to become providers.

What else will I need to apply? 

For PACFA members who meet the above criteria, to request an ARHG Provider Number you must also:

  • be in private practice;
  • hold a current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003/011) certificate;
  • hold current indemnity insurance;
  • renew your PACFA Clinical membership each year.

Are there special measures in place due to COVID-19? 

Yes, there are special measures for the provision of services via Telehealth due to COVID-19.


Kindly note that processing times vary for each private health fund, with some potentially requiring more time than others. It may takeup to weeks. Until you receive the Provider Number from PACFA, please refrain from advertising to clients that you have a provider number.
