Constitution review working party: expressions of interest now open

14 March 2024

PACFA is calling for expressions of interest from members to join a working party to update the Constitution.

An external review of the PACFA constitution identified that it is outdated and no longer fit for purpose. The review identified 25 significant issues inherent to the existing Constitution and recommended changes be made to the incorporating structure and formation documents to address ambiguities and confusion in the current constitution. The objective is to bring PACFA into alignment with best practice governance for member organisations in Australia.

PACFA’s Governance Committee (GC) is overseeing this process and will make recommendations to the Board and Membership.

Eligibility to join the Working Party is predicated on training and expertise in governance and an understanding of the legal framework of constitutions, having capacity to actively contribute to the workload, and a demonstrated commitment to best practice governance.

The Committee will meet virtually every month. Please click here to view the Terms of Reference of the working party.

Expressions of interest require a cover letter detailing meeting the eligibility criteria and an updated resume emailed to [email protected]. The deadline for expressions of interest is 30 April 2024.

PACFA’s Governance Committee was established in 2020 to support and advise the PACFA Board on the effective governance of PACFA.

The purpose of the Governance Committee is to provide support and advice to ensure that the PACFA Board is able to fulfil its legal, ethical, and functional responsibilities through adequate governance policy development, processes for Board recruitment, induction and training, and processes for reviewing and evaluating the performance of the Board, Board Committees, individual Directors and Board Committee members.
