Call for volunteers: a unique opportunity to shape youth mental health core skills training

18 March 2024

The Black Dog Institute, a leading organisation in mental health research and support, is developing a Youth Mental Health Core Skills Training module. This initiative aims to lay a solid foundation for mental health professionals (MHPs) working with young people, and they need your insight!

The Black Dog Institute seeks 4-5 counsellors to participate in a focus group to inform this crucial work. Your experiences and insights could help shape a training program that will benefit countless professionals and, most importantly, the young people they support.

Who Can Volunteer?

We're looking for counsellors who are:

Early in their career: Eager to bring fresh perspectives and experiences.

Mid-career professionals: Who have valuable insights into what they wish they had known at the beginning of their careers.

Why Volunteer?

Contribute to the future: Your participation will directly influence the development of training that addresses the real needs of mental health professionals working with youth.

Recognition for your contribution: Each focus group participant will receive a gift voucher as a token of appreciation for their time and input.

Focus Group Details:

Timing: Scheduled for April, lasting 1 hour, held virtually.

Format: Aimed to be group sessions but may adapt to 1:1 depending on availability.

Availability: We're flexible with mid-week sessions (Tues/Wed/Thurs) during business hours or in the evening AEST.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lend your voice to a project that promises to enhance the resources available to counsellors working with young people.

Express Your Interest

We invite you to express your interest in participating by emailing us directly at [email protected] . Please include a brief overview of your experience with youth mental health and why you’d like to contribute to this focus group.

We will review all expressions of interest and then notify you directly if you're selected to participate.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to the betterment of mental health care for young people. Together, we can make a difference.

Warm regards,

The PACFA Team
