PACFA Board member, College of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Healing Practices Convenor Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson, and former PACFA Vice-President, Registered Clinical Psychotherapist Tony Clarkson, will be keynote speakers at the Australia & New Zealand Addiction Conference, 26-28 April 2023.
The conference, presented by the Australia & New Zealand Mental Health Association, will be held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast.
Prof. Atkinson will speak at the conference on Thursday 27 April, about First Nations Approaches to Trauma and Addiction.
Mr Clarkson, who is the Principal Clinical Advisor of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, will interview Dr Edward Mantler, of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, on Canada’s Addiction and Mental Health Standard, as well as deliver a keynote address on the conference’s final day.
Dr Gabor Maté will open the conference, delivering a keynote address on ‘Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture’.
