09 November 2023

On Thursday 12 October, PACFA’s CEO Johanna de Wever and Head of Education Nghi Robinson both attended the 2023 Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA) Member Policy Symposium in Melbourne, with the theme of Allied Health: Meeting the challenges ahead.

The Member Policy Symposium was broken up into multiple sessions which addressed areas such as policy challenges with First Nations equity in aged care and allied health, and using big data to drive evidence-based policy. HR legislative updates and allied health “Policy Monsters were also discussed during the symposium.

Emceed by Duncan Armstrong OAM OLY, and exclusive to AHPA member CEOs and Senior Policy Officers, AHPA's 2023 Member Policy Symposium aimed to bring allied health industry leaders together to collaborate and connect.

Attending AHPA’s annual Member Policy Symposiums allows PACFA to gain intelligence on key policy issues both collectively and as individual associations, as well as access to key influencers in the policy space. It allows PACFA to work with AHPA and other members to develop a plan for future collective action in the policy area, and serves as a networking opportunity for association leaders and policy staff.
