Becoming Present Bodily
26 October 2024, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm (ACST)
This is a face-to-face event
There are two (or more) bodies in an intersubjective space, and they may unconsciously interact. What do I notice about my body and my internal sensation when my client sighs heavily? What is my bodily felt sense with another’s body? How do I enter the client’s inner world somatically?
In this event, I invite you to experience an intersubjective space in an embodied way. We will have various experientials – noticing breaths, sensations in the body, moving on your own, or with the other(s), and expressing yourself through the body. The workshop aims to begin to understand how to be more present with clients bodily and become an embodied self as a practitioner. You do not need to have any movement, dance, or mindfulness experience. In this space, there is no right or wrong in how you move, and stillness may be part of the process.
I will introduce the framework of dance movement psychotherapy and the practice of Authentic Movement that I use. This skill allows us to attune to our inner experience while witnessing the other. There are movers and witnesses in this practice. This practice helps practitioners become fully aware of their own body, its presence, and inner sensations, as well as the other’s.
