What you’ll do

 

The Family Advisor is a frontline service and the first point of contact for our Clinical and Community Programs. The Family Advisor undertakes an initial intake and triages all referrals. Under the direction of the Manager and Senior Clinicians, the Family Advisor is responsible for:

  • Managing the initial intake with new clients, identifying their needs, and connecting them with services (internal and external) through care coordination and referrals Leading quality improvement across programs (intake, screening, counselling, etc.) to improve service delivery
  • Under the supervision of the Senior Clinician, assessing level of risk of clients with a strong focus on identifying any child protection concerns, family or domestic violence concerns and/or suicide riskCollaborating with the Manager and Director to support clinical governance and service excellence
  • Organising client appointment times and following up clients where necessary
  • Monitoring and maintaining the wait list and timely recordings of client information, including statistics

The details

  • Full time or part time (30-37.5 hours per week), ongoing 
  • Annual salary between $82,856.63 and $89,166.58
  • Located in Deakin, ACT

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant experience and Certificate IV in Community Services or Mental Health or a related field. Demonstrated practice leadership of a multidisciplinary team to implement quality improvement measures
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess client needs, including the ability to assess risk, escalate risk and prioritise accordingly. Demonstrated understanding of the drivers, contributing factors, assessment, and risk management relevant to family and domestic violence, and knowledge or experience in working with mental health issues, addictions, disabilities and the use of trauma informed practice.
  • Demonstrated sound understanding of family and domestic violence issues and experience in person-centred, trauma-informed supports and responses and knowledge of services available to families and children.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements of mandatory reporting, and issues relating to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.
