Cultivating self-regulation through somatic practice

Cultivating self-regulation through somatic practice
This PD is for counsellors/therapists who would like to explore somatic mindfulness as a tool to cultivate self-regulation by:
• Becoming aware of inner sensations, emotions and thoughts
• Being mindful about sensations received through the senses
• Bringing awareness to relational somatic resources
• Becoming more coherently present in the here and now
Co-regulation precedes self-regulation and lays a core foundation to it. Our capacity to become aware, recognize, contain or manage our sensations/emotions/thoughts was grounded by the capacity of our caregivers to do so.
Self-regulation may be cultivated and enriched by awareness of somatic resources. Becoming aware of different aspects of our inner and/or outer reality is the precursor for building capacity for inner coherence and containment.
This PD is a combination of therapy and experiential practice that is helpful in building capacity to self -regulate.
