Do Counsellors Need Coaching?

01 May 2024, 5:30pm-7:00pm

This is a face to face event at Royal Yacht Club of  Tasmania, Marieville Esplande, Sandy Bay.

Coaching as a profession and as an industry is one of the fastest-growing in the world. In fact, it has been said that it is the second-fastest-growing industry on the planet, second only to the IT industry. It is over a multi billion dollar a year industry in USA alone and just continues to grow every year.

How do counsellors relate to this professional cousin? What territory do we share and what territory do we as counsellors claim as ours uniquely? Are there tools and techniques from this future-focused positive psychology perspective that we would be wise to adopt and utilise? Moving forward how do we relate and, very importantly, how do we maintain a respectful, complementary family relationship into the future?

Coaching and its value to you in your professional practice is the topic of the TAS Branch Network and PD monthly session in May. Join us for an engaging conversation.

Participants in this professional development session will gain a deeper understanding of coaching and its relevance to counselling.

The session will include:

  • Viewing a video snippet
  • Discussing a case example
  • Engaging in experiential exercises

Presenter: Fiona Baillie

Fiona Baillie has worked for over 30 years as a counsellor and mediator. More recently she has trained as a coach. She therefore has the expertise to discuss the differences and similarities of these related fields. She works as both a counsellor and as a coach in her private practice, “Creative Conversations”.
