Recognising Overseas Qualifications

PACFA does not currently have reciprocal arrangements for recognition of counselling and psychotherapy training programs that are recognised outside Australia. This is an area that will be addressed by PACFA in the future.

The process for having overseas qualifications recognised by PACFA is as follows:

  1. Applicants should review the PACFA Training Standards to determine whether the overseas course is likely to meet the PACFA’s requirements.
  2. Apply to join PACFA via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). For applicants form overseas, the RPL application process includes assessment by VETASSESS, the government assessment authority. For details see the Recognition of Prior Learning page.
  3. Member Association members with overseass qualificatin applying to list on the PACFA Register are also required to apply via RPL
