Response to TEQSA’s 2013 Consultation on Information Guidelines

The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia has made a submission to TEQSA, the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Authority.

In the submission, PACFA states that it wishes to be considered as a professional body for the sharing of higher education information because of its mission to provide professional accreditation for counselling and psychotherapy education programs that meet PACFA’s Professional Training Standards0B0-104 (2012). PACFA’s status fits within category 3c: Professional bodies with no formal statutory basis.

Recommendation 1
PACFA submits that bodies covered by section 193 of the Act should be listed in an additional schedule (Schedule B) in the Information Guidelines, and that PACFA should be included in this list.

Recommendation 2
Consultation with professional bodies responsible for professional course accreditation,
9A0-125 whether statutory or not, should take place on an equal basis to ensure all professional course accreditation processes have the opportunity to align with TEQSA regulation of educational risk and quality.
