Counsellor - supported private practice

Rough Patch is a counselling service with a difference. Using anon-profit,social enterprise modelthat has never been done in Australia, Rough Patch offersaffordable counselling, referrals and other mental health supports to the community, as well as provides awarm, collaborative community of practice for counsellors.

This is an opportunity for practitioners who are passionate about making counselling more affordable and accessible for the community.

Counsellors offerreduced-fee counsellingto clients, and in turn,Rough Patch supports youby providing very low-cost room rentals, marketing and referral supports, opportunities for free and low-cost training, monthly peer supervision, professional development and networking opportunities, private practice mentoring, social media support, discounted books and mental health resources sold via our mental health shop, and other benefits.

We are currently seeking counsellors to join other private practitioners in our Community of Practice

To join our community of practice, you must hold agraduate-level degreein counselling, psychology or social work; be registered with a professional association (PACFA, ACA, APA, APS, AASW); hold a current Working with Children Check; hold your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance; manage your own accounting and clinical record keeping; and agree to work within our community of practice guidelines, including attending monthly practitioner meetings.

Our counsellors strive to be inclusive, non-pathologising, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-homophobic and queer-friendly, anti-misogynist, fat-neutral, and actively seek to further their education about these issues on an ongoing basis.
