The Australian non-profit suicide prevention organisation R U OK? has announced that nominations are open for the Barbara Hocking Memorial Awards.
The campaign seeks to recognise those in the community who help create a world where we’re all connected and are protected from suicide.
Barbara Hocking OAM (d. 2016) was one of Australia's leading advocates for people affected by mental illness. She was the first full-time Executive Director of SANE Australia and served on the Board of Mental Health Australia and R U OK?
The 2023 awards recognise outstanding contribution to suicide prevention across five categories:
- Workplace
- Education
- Community
- Young Conversation Leader
- Conversation Leader
If you know someone or an organisation who’s done any of the above, we encourage you to nominate them for the Barbara Hocking Memorial Awards.
