National online launch of Stillbirth Clinical Care Standard

04 November 2022

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare is releasing a Stillbirth Clinical Care Standard to support best practice care for stillbirth prevention and investigation, and bereavement care following perinatal loss.

The Commission has contacted us to invite members of PACFA to join the online launch of the first national Stillbirth Clinical Care Standard, developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

The new standard aims to reduce unwarranted clinical variation in the prevention and investigation of stillbirth, and to reduce the number of women experiencing stillbirth, especially after 28 weeks gestation. This clinical care standard also aims to support best practice in bereavement care following any perinatal loss, and in the care provided to women when planning for, and during, subsequent pregnancies.

The standard will be launched by The Hon. Ged Kearney MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, at the Annual National Stillbirth Forum in Brisbane, hosted by the Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth.

The event will be streamed live on Friday 4 November, 12:00 – 1:00pm from the Annual National Stillbirth Forum.
