Perinatal Mental Health Week 6-12 November

04 November 2022

Perinatal Mental Health Week (PMHW) is an annual event to raise awareness, provide information, support referral pathways and to de-stigmatise perinatal mental health issues. This year’s theme is ‘We’re here, we get it.’

A national collaboration of 45 organisations, PMHW aims to show new and expectant parents that they are not alone.  The transition into parenthood can be tough -- one in five new mums and one in 10 new dads experience perinatal depression and anxiety-- approximately 100,000 Australian parents each year.

The week-long event offers a great opportunity to recognise the mental health struggles of new parents and to let them know that help is available; others are there for them, and they understand the challenges they face.

A range of free resources are available to educate Australians on what mental health conditions can look like. Each day, throughout the week, from 6 to 12 November, a new daily theme will be introduced.

Play your part in reducing the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health by sharing any of the PMHW assets on your social media pages (#PMHWeek2022).
