Griefline launching new Advanced Grief Theories course

In August 2021, PACFA and Griefline formed a partnership to enable our members to work in Griefline’s Integrating Grief Program, which launched in February 2022 with the support of the NSW Ministry of Health.

The program is delivered by registered counsellors, including PACFA members, who have completed Griefline’s Advanced Grief Theories course.

From Monday 6 June, PACFA members will be able to enrol in the Advanced Grief Theories course. The purpose of this training program is to upskill professional therapists in contemporary grief and bereavement theories to meet the needs of individuals experiencing prolonged grief or at risk of developing prolonged grief disorder.

The training was developed using the latest evidence-based techniques of key theorists pertaining to prolonged grief, including Dr Holly Prigerson, Dr Robert A. Neimeyer and Dr Katherine Shear.

The course is accredited by PACFA and counts as 6 hours of Category A CPD (continuing professional development).

Griefline runs 2 intakes per year for their Integrating Grief Program; completing the Advanced Grief Theories course is a pre-requisite. The intake process also involves submitting an expression of interest and completing an interview with Griefline.

The first round of applications closed in September 2021. When second-round applications open, PACFA members will be notified in eNews and via email. If you are interested in this opportunity with Griefline, completing the Advanced Grief Theories course is a fantastic way to get started, but does not guarantee acceptance into the Integrating Grief Program.
