PACFA’s response to COVID-19

We are living through an extraordinary and challenging time with the unfolding coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are all dealing with personal as well as professional challenges during this time. PACFA hopes that all of our members and their families are coping well with this new situation we find ourselves in.

PACFA has now developed a Coronavirus Response Plan which includes plans to resource our members to deal with the pandemic, as well as making sure everyone at PACFA is able to stay healthy in order to continue operating effectively.

The PACFA staff team is working on a range of strategies to provide information, resources and professional development to our members. In addition, many volunteers from our Board, Committees and College and Branch Leadership Groups are helping with PACFA’s response to the Coronavirus.

PACFA is continuing to lobby government to expand the Australian Mental Health Workforce to include counsellors and psychotherapists. We are actively advocating for the inclusion of counsellors and psychotherapists in the nationally coordinated response to COVID-19.

The PAFCA staff team is now working remotely to help keep our team safe so that we can keep serving our members. Our phones and mail have been diverted to home-based staff members.

Please be aware that we are experiencing a very high volume of phone calls and email enquiries. Many members have similar concerns and questions regarding PACFA’s COVID-19 response and how to safely and effectively modify your practice to continue providing support to clients during the pandemic.

Rather than responding to each member individually, we are providing all members with updates via email, updating resources regularly on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information page of the PACFA website, and posting updates and other useful links and resources on our Facebook page.

If you have an enquiry that does require a personal response, there may be a delay before the PACFA Office responds. Please rest assured, however, we will do as much as we can to assist you during this challenging time.

Please email PACFA at admin@pacfa.org.au  if you have any concerns or questions.
