PACFA has added to its online library of recorded webinars which can be purchased at the PACFA Portal. The webinar recordings count as Category B CPD for PACFA’s renewal requirements.

The latest addition is the second Keynote Speaker from the sold out 2019 conference Working with Trauma. This follows on from the recording of the first Keynote address by Miriam Taylor, which is also available for purchase.

Graham Gee is a registered psychologist at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service main area of research is complex trauma, resilience and trauma recovery.

Graham Gee’s keynote address draws on clinical experience and research to explore some of the unique challenges involved in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to heal from trauma. The presentation begins with a focus on some important therapeutic foundations for practitioners, such as the need for cultural humility and developing a stance of advocacy. The second part of the presentation highlights the roles of self-determination and culture in healing and recovery from trauma. In the final part of the presentation, Graham explores how experiences of intergenerational and complex trauma can emerge in the therapeutic space, for example processes related to historical grief and loss, the impact of the Stolen Generations, male vulnerability, and cultural renewal.
