PACFA congratulates Dr Kim Dunphy OAM

PACFA congratulates Dr Kim Dunphy on receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her contributions to dance movement therapy.  

Kim’s OAM was announced on Monday 8 June as part of the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours and covered in a video piece by ABC News 

Dr Kim Dunphy (BA, Grad Dip Movement Dance, M.Ed, PhD) was a Mackenzie Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Creative Arts Therapy Research Unit from 2016-2019. She is currently Lecturer in Dance Movement Therapy and is leading the development of the curriculum in dance movement therapy for a new Masters program at CAMTRU. Her research interests include assessment and evaluation of dance movement therapy, especially the use of technological tools to assist.  

Kim has a long-standing involvement in PACFA as a PACFA Council Delegate representing the Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australasia (DTAA). She was Chair of the PACFA Research Committee and Board member of PACFA between 2017 and 2019.   Kim is the Convenor of the International Network for Dance Movement Therapy and a former President of DTAA.  

In October 2019, PACFA awarded Kim a life membership of PACFA in recognition of the contribution she has made to PACFA and to the psychotherapy and counselling profession.
