Opportunity to collaborate on a textbook on counselling

Academics from the University of Southern Queensland are producing an open textbook called Issues in counselling. It is being written for Australian counselling students and the editors hope it will be a valuable resource. It will be freely downloadable and have a creative commons licence.

Dr Nathan Beel from USQ, who is co-editing the publication, is seeking Australian counselling educators to review individual chapters as part of the peer review process.  The goal is to have as many chapters possible reviewed by at least one Australian registered counsellor. The secondary reviewers will be one of the three editors – Dr Nathan Beel, Dr Carol du Plessis, and Dr Tanya Machin. Chapter reviews are undertaken on a voluntary basis and all reviewers will be listed in the textbook. Reviewers will have one month to review their chapter/s.

The chapters available (or soon to be available) for review include the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Crisis
  • Trauma
  • Domestic abuse
  • Child abuse and neglect

Reviewers will be provided with guidelines to assist them.

For those interested, please email Nathan Beel at beel@usq.edu.au and include the title/s of the chapters you would like to review.
