Open letter to the Prime Minister on continuity of funding for mental health services

PACFA has signed an open letter to the Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, calling for urgent action to ensure continuity of services and programs for Australians who live with mental illness, and those who care for them.

Together with 71 other organisations in the mental health sector, collaborating under the banner of our peak body, Mental Health Australia, the signatories to the letter are concerned that the lack of certainty around mental health funding has now reached crisis point with some programs preparing to close down if continuity in program funding is not provided soon.

The mental health sector is still waiting for the government to release the findings of the National Mental Heath Commission’s review of mental health services and to announce their response to the Commission’s recommendations.
