New PACFA Conference Committee Chair & Convenor of the PACFA LGBTIQ Interest Group  

PACFA is pleased to announce two new appointments to leadership roles within our membership. 

PACFA Conference Committee Chair   

Nigel Polak, who also serves on the College of Counsellinghas stepped into the role of Conference Committee Chair.  Nigel is a psychotherapist in private practice working with individuals, couples and groups, and is an academic teacher and supervisor in the School of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology.  Nigel will Chair the Committee as it plans the next PACFA Conference, on the theme Safety in Therapywhich will be held in take place in Adelaide from Friday April 29 to Sunday 1 May 2022 

LGBTIQ+ Interest Group Convenor  

Dr Gávi Ansara has recently taken on the role of Convenor for the PACFA LGBTIQ Interest Group, which was re-formed late in 2019. Gávi has a PhD and MSc in Psychology from the University of Surrey in England and a Master of Counselling (Monash). He is an internationally recognised psychotherapist, clinical educator, policy consultant, and psychological researcher with over 15 years of polycultural, Anti-Oppressive Clinical Practice experience working therapeutically with people of all ages who have marginalised lived experiences in outpatient, inpatient, and community settings around the world. 

We welcome Nigel and Gávi  to their new roles, both of which will contribute significantly to the way in which PACFA works on behalf of our members. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Don Secomb, who previously served in both roles in addition to being the PACFA Board Secretary, for his dedication and contribution to PACFA and our membership.
