Karen Stewart is a registered counsellor who has worked in the community mental health sector and in private practice since 2017 as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Prior to this Karen worked and volunteered in the OOHC sector for 10 years. In the last 5+ years, Karen has worked with people who have experienced a loved one’s sudden death, with offenders in the justice system, people with disability, and has provided family violence services within a crisis organisation. This experience informs her work now as a psychotherapist in private practice, and within the relationship and general counselling space at RA. Karen draws from a number of theoretical frameworks when working with people, including self psychology and feminist approaches, from a base of attuned psychodynamic relating. Karen uses systemic, experiential and emotion-focused approaches when working with adult intimate relationships.
