LGBTIQ Interest Group re-forming

A new Leadership Group has been formed for the LGBTIQ Interest Group.

Members of the new Leadership Group are bringing new ideas and energy to the Interest Group. All have substantial experience and expertise in LGBTIQ issues.

  • Don Secomb (Convenor)
  • Trish Thompson
  • Dr Gávi Ansara
  • Melinda Cavaliere
  • Jade Wren Pearson
  • Carolyn Rogers

The LGBTIQ Interest Group aims to raise awareness and advocate for LGBTIQ issues within PACFA and to promote good practice when working with LGBTIQ clients. The role of the Interest Group includes developing practice resources and professional development opportunities around working with LGBTIQ clients.

In 2018, the former Leadership Group of the LGBTIQ Interest Group, together with the PACFA Research Committee, reviewed and updated PACFA’s Position Statement on Therapeutic Support for LGBTIQ clients and their families. This was an important achievement aimed at ensuring PACFA promotes safe practice, informed by research evidence, when working with LGBTIQ clients.
