Grandfathering available for members who have suspended their membership or who are on leave

For PACFA members who have suspended their membership or who are on leave, grandfathering is now available if they wish to return to PACFA membership but do not meet the requirements of the PACFA Training Standards 2018.

Members who are on leave or who have suspended their membership would normally have to meet the requirements of the PACFA Training Standards 2018 in order to return to PACFA membership. The Training Standards require training to be accredited by government at AQF level 7 to 9.

However practitioners who have previously been PACFA members who meet certain criteria may return to PACFA membership even if they don’t meet the PACFA Training Standards 2018.  On leave and suspended members are eligible for the grandfathering option if they:

  1. undertook a PACFA accredited program that met the 2014 PACFA Training Standards
  2. undertook training recognised by a PACFA Member Association and were members of that Member Association prior to going on leave or suspending

See the relevant grandfathering policies here. All grandfathering options will cease on 31 December 2023.

If you would like to reactivate your PACFA membership or return from leave, please contact the PACFA office if you are not sure whether grandfathering will apply to you.  Please contact Nicole Combes via email membership@pacfa.org.au at the PACFA Office.
