This programme is designed to provide training for experienced therapists in the art and practice of counsellor supervision

Supervision 101 is endorsed by PACFA to meet the formal supervision training standards and therefore participants need to be eligible for listing on the PACFA register. PACFA also require applicants to complete 10 hours of post-course supervision on their additional 50 hours of live supervision.

Foundations:
The foundations for the “supervision 101” training programme lay in a modified version of the integrated developmental model devised by Stoltenberg et.al., (2003) that encompasses the following principles:

  • Supervisees progress through four stages. Each of the four stages is characterized by : self-other awareness, motivation, and autonomy.
  • In each stage the supervisee functions with increased capabilities in intervention skills, case conceptualisation, contextual sensitivity, ethical practice, treatment planning and the integration of theory with practice.

Outcomes:
As a result of completing this programme a participant will be able to:

A. Define the role and function of supervision
B. Articulate the key differences between the models of supervision
C. Discover the supervision model with which they are most comfortable
D. Articulate/demonstrate the best principles and practice issues in the provision of supervision
E. Understand the legal/ethical considerations in supervision
F. Identify the stages in counsellor and supervisor development
G. Demonstrate the best reflective practice in supervision

COST: $1100 (GST Included) until 31/12/18. Afterwards: $1330 (GST Included)

This event counts as 20 hours of category A CPD for PACFA’s membership renewal requirements
