Embodied Presence for Trauma-informed Practice

Presenters: Juliette Kirkwood and Alison Hood

mBodywisdom workshop is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, dance movement therapists, caseworkers, social workers, trauma-sensitive yoga teachers and other practitioners who work relationally with people with unresolved complex trauma

Informed by current interpersonal neurobiology research, this fun and gentle experiential workshop will support you intentionally to explore and nurture your embodied presence. Working with five key principles of trauma-informed practice, you will be invited to ‘feel into’ and nourish your organic intelligence – your innate mind-body wisdom – through gentle movement, sensory awareness activities, reflective creative expression, symbolic story making and more…

Cultivate and deepen your dynamic self-other attunement to revitalize and sustain your professional practice while upholding your health and wellbeing and mitigating the risks of vicarious trauma and burnout. Empower yourself to sustain effective, trauma-informed embodied relationships that enable your clients to achieve meaningful, long-term healing and growth.

What to wear and bring: please join us with an open mind and heart along with a blanket/wrap and cushion, if preferred for sitting on the floor. You are welcome to bring your journal or notebook (materials will be provided). Wear comfortable, loose clothing and have a pair of socks handy if you prefer not to go barefoot (no shoes may be worn in the studio).

Refreshments: bring lunch or buy locally. Water and a range of herbal teas will be available throughout the day.

Juliette and Alison collaborate across disciplines to offer a unique and innovative approach to supporting individuals, groups, and teams to develop embodied wisdom for enhanced wellbeing; affirming relationships and optimised personal and professional performance.

We combine therapeutic movement, breathing techniques, psychoeducation and practical strategies informed by the latest neuroscientific research to facilitate deep and lasting change.

Our mBodyWisdom aim is to empower you to realise your full potential by awakening, exploring and integrating your body’s natural intelligence.

Our mBodyWisdom values are authenticity, acceptance, and transformation through relationship.
