Developing Emotional Awareness

Facilitators: Dr Michelle Webster, Lisa Champion and Rochelle Dawson

Emotional experience is a layered process that individuals experience at sensorimotor, schematic and conceptual levels. Individuals need to be participant-observers of their experience, beginning with having their experience then symbolising or making meaning, before discovering the associated action tendencies.

In this workshop we will show you how to access and work with emotional experience in order to develop a client’s awareness of their emotions as well as their emotional process. We will begin with the verbal techniques to access and unpack emotional emotional experiences before progressing to the creative techniques of focusing and visualisation. The creative options enable clients to develop self-awareness in order discover their feelings and to regulate or experience them.

This event counts as 12 hours of category A CPD for PACFA’s membership renewal requirements.
