Finance Officer – Part Time

PACFA is seeking a Finance Officer to assist the accountant with day to day finance activities.

The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) is a peak body for the counselling and psychotherapy profession in Australia.  PACFA is a non-profit federation, made up of individual members, Branches and Colleges and Member Associations.

PACFA’s mission is to advance the counselling and psychotherapy profession and to benefit members of the community who seek the services of counsellors and psychotherapists. A key role of the organisation is to provide services for members of PACFA, including providing professional development activities and conferences.

This role involves accounts payable invoicing and ensuring the organisational approval processes are adhered to; accounts receivable invoicing and banking processing; reconciliation of general ledger accounts and end of month reporting duties.

The finance officer will also participate in year-end process; perform bank accounts and credit card reconciliations.

To be successful in this role you will need excellent attention to detail and time management skills.  You will also need high level written and verbal communications skills,  be very organised and preferably have some accounting experience.

This role works closely with the Accountant but is also has discrete tasks which are performed independently.

Editor – Psychotherapy & Counselling Today 

PACFA is seeking applications for an Editor for its new professional journal, Psychotherapy & Counselling Today. The journal aims to provide PACFA members and a broader reading audience with stimulating and informative reading on psychotherapy and counselling in Australia. The publication is of value to practitioners, educators, researchers and students to support ongoing professional learning. Applicants are expected to be professionals from the counselling and psychotherapy field or from a related profession. Applicants will strong professional writing and editing skills evidenced in relevant, high quality publications, and a track record of collegial team work with successful outcomes. They will ideally have experience editing a counselling or psychotherapy journal and a higher degree in research, preferably in counselling or psychotherapy, would be highly regarded.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Research Committee members wanted

PACFA is calling for expressions of interest to join the PACFA Research Committee.

To sit on the Research Committee, applicants are required to be members of PACFA or of PACFA Member Associations, to have a higher degree research qualification and to be research-active or to have other relevant qualifications and experience as practitioners in counselling or psychotherapy. Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers are especially encouraged.

Volunteer Mediators to mediate in PACFA complaints

PACFA’s complaints procedure now includes mediation as a possible first step in the resolution of a complaint. The PACFA Ethics Committee is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from practitioners who do mediation (preferably with some qualifications and/or experience in mediation) and who are interested in mediating complaints for PACFA on a voluntary basis.
