Employment

Counsellors and psychotherapists work in a variety of settings, including in non-profit agencies, government, schools, commercial settings, and private practice.

PACFA continues to negotiate exclusive arrangements with key companies and organisations in the mental health industry as part of our advocacy for recognition of counselling and psychotherapy. Many of these partnerships provide employment opportunities to PACFA members, or benefits to attract more clients. More information can be found on our member-exclusive opportunities page.

PACFA also runs a member-only jobs board where organisations looking to engage highly-skilled mental health professionals advertise directly through PACFA.

For those interested in setting up their own private practice, PACFA regularly runs our highly-popular 'Building your private practice' short course to guide practitioners through this often daunting process.

The following websites routinely advertise employment opportunities for counsellors and psychotherapists. Some also advertise volunteer positions for students and interns.
