Apply for accreditation of a counselling or psychotherapy training program

Training providers and educational institutes interested in applying to accredit a counselling program should review the Course Accreditation Guidelines 2018 which set out the requirements for accreditation and provide detailed guidance on how to prepare the application.

Education programs must meet the requirements set out in the Guidelines, including demonstrating that the course meets the PACFA Training Standards.

The Accreditation Application Form is available on the documents and forms page. The application must be made in the approved form, include all information requested by PACFA and must be accompanied by the applicable fee.

 Apply for accreditation of a specialist training course

Training providers and educational institutes interested in applying to accredit a specialist course in counselling or psychotherapy should review the Specialist Training Accreditation Requirements 2018 which set out the requirements for accreditation and guidance on how to prepare the application.

Specialist courses must meet the requirements set out in the Guidelines, including demonstrating that the course meets the Specialist Training Standards 2018.

The Specialist Training Accreditation Application Form is available on the documents and forms page. The application must be made in the approved form, include all information requested by PACFA and must be accompanied by the applicable fee.

Apply for accreditation of a supervision course

 To be endorsed by PACFA, supervision training programs must meet the requirements of PACFA’s Supervision Training Standards 2020.

In addition to having supervisor training that meets the requirements of the Supervision Training Standards 2020, applicants must meet the requirements of the Register Requirements for Accredited Supervisors.

Endorsement of a supervision training program by PACFA comes with the following benefits:
Endorsement of the training program by PACFA
Use of the PACFA endorsement logo for publicity purposes
Listing of the supervision training program at the Endorsed Supervision Training Program page of the PACFA website
Guaranteed eligibility of course graduates to apply to be a PACFA Accredited Supervisor

Training Providers that are interested in seeking PACFA endorsement of a supervision training program may apply using the Application Form.

Applications must be made and are approved in accordance with the Terms and Conditions - Supervision Training Program Endorsement.

There is an assessment fee of $220 (inc GST) to apply for endorsement. This is a non-refundable administration fee that covers the cost of the assessment of the course.

Endorsement is for a period of 5 years unless the supervision training program content is varied, in which case a new application for endorsement is required.

Renew course accreditation

Training providers and educational institutions must apply in writing to PACFA for renewal of the accredited course of study.

The application must be made in writing at least 180 days before the current accreditation period is due to end, or a shorter period if approved by PACFA.

Applications must be on the approved form, include all information requested by PACFA, and must be accompanied by the applicable fee.
