Working with transgender and non-binary youth - recording
PACFA LGBTQI+ Interest Group: A critical developmental approach to working with transgender and non-binary young people
This webinar provides an overview of the mental health needs of transgender and non-binary young people, before outlining an approach to working with this population. Upon completion, attendees will be able to:
1) understand tools for identifying discrimination directed towards transgender and non-binary young people,
2) appreciate how developmentalism has limited our understanding of transgender and non-binary young people, and
3) appreciate the utility of an approach to case formulation that is critical of gender norms.

Damien Riggs is a Professor in psychology at Flinders University, an Australian Research Council Future Fellow, a psychotherapist in private practice who specializes in working with transgender young people, and a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society.
