This unit introduces students to classical and current psychological and theological research related to counselling and counselling practice. In doing so, the unit enables and encourages students to reflect on and articulate ways in which Christian principles and clinical practice may be integrated in order to provide sensitive and comprehensive care to persons within Christian and other spiritually-oriented counselling environments. Major positions pertaining to the integration of knowledge across disciplines will also be identified and classified according to their degree of acceptance of the proposition
that truth is unified.
 
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this elective students should be able to:
* Articulate the influence of historical and contemporary
psychological and theological research on the process
of integrating counselling and Christianity.
• Demonstrate understanding of the importance
of developing a thoughtful personal theoretical
framework for the integration of counselling
and Christianity.
• Critically reflect upon worldview and how it interacts
with the theory of and process of integrating counselling
and Christianity.
• Reflect on and effectively analyse the primary models
involved in the integration of the Christian faith with
the discipline of counselling.
