Renewal Requirements for the PACFA Register
Professional Development
The professional development requirement is intended to support the obligation of practitioners to keep up to date with their profession and new development in practice. The requirement of 15 hours per year is minimal and most practitioners will exceed this. The 15 hours therefore refers only to involvement in training courses or workshops, attendance at conferences and seminars and training whilst enrolled in formal courses, which may include distance education.
Guideline for Content:
1. Material should be relevant to ongoing clinical practice.
2. Material should be relevant to core competencies of psychotherapy and counselling practice.
Guideline for Presenter/s:
These activities should be presented by: appropriately qualified members of PACFA MA s or presenters who are eligible for membership or those who are recognised by the profession as having advanced expertise in the topic being addressed.
10 hours of formal supervision linked to practice in the previous 12 months.
These hours can be 100% peer supervision for clinical registrants who have completed 5 years client contact post-training.
Complete a signed agreement to adhere to the PACFA Code of Ethics.
Maintain full membership with a PACFA Member Association.
Evidence of continuing Professional Indemnity Insurance.
