The Counselling Association of South Australia (CASA) was
established to provide a professional association for
counsellors, and to set standards for counselling ethics and
practice.
CASA is open to all counsellors and therapists who meet the
required standards of training, experience and supervision. CASA
supports practitioners who exhibit responsibility and
accountability in delivery of services, and who are committed to
best practice counselling.
CASA counsellors and therapists work in a variety of
professional settings and deal with a wide range of client
issues.
CASA recognises a diversity of counselling approaches and
traditions, acknowledges various pathways to counselling
qualification, and values competencies acquired from a variety
of situations and life experiences.
Supervision and ongoing professional education are seen as an
essential part of developing and maintaining professional
competence. CASA provides regular seminars on a wide range of
counselling-related topics for the ongoing development of
counsellors and therapists. A quarterly newsletter is published
and distributed to all members.
CASA, inaugurated in May 1997, is based in Adelaide and has
approximately 200 members located predominately throughout the
state of South Australia.
